I was born 1971 in Brasil and raised in Vienna, Austria. Growing up in the European household of two open-minded doctors, I travelled a lot and started to take pictures as a teenager. After school I started to make corporate movies in Frankfurt and applied for the AFI (American Film Institue). I spent two years with fantastic teachers, colleagues and an enourmous task load (and earned an M.F.A.) – and found myself working a camera operator and director of photography in Los Angeles day and night for the next five years. After that I needed a break and started working back in Europe. Things went well and I was asked to do the pilots (and seasons) of a few new tv series (Schlawiner, CopStories, Vorstadtweiber, Kalahari Gemsen) on Austrian National TV (ORF). I had a lot of fun creating a unique visual language for each of those series, when life called me and brought a few feature films to me. It was a challenge again to find pictures suitable for the big screen and tell a story in only 90 minutes. Beside that I am often asked to shoot documentaries with religious or environmental aspects which I really enjoy. Every now and then I’ll do a short film because I like the spirit of emerging directors and their approach to stories.
